Going for Gold 2 Pan Ams with Ariel

In 2017 I was honored to compete with Team Canada at the ISA Worlds in Denmark, living out my childhood dream to compete for my country. This would not have been possible without the love and support of many amazing friends, colleagues & family members as well as sponsorships from Moen, Blu Wave SUP, Surf Ontario, Fitness Infuzion for Woman, The Institute of Sport Performance & Wellness, Team LTD, the Paddle Monster, PSP Specialists & Team Usana.

After winning the 2017 Woman's Elite Champion & Ontario SUP Series Overall Woman's Championships in August, I left for my first Europe adventure at the ISA World SUP & Paddleboard Championships to complete my Denmark Dream.

I competed in 3 of the 7 race disciplines, Distance, Technical and Relay. In the 18.8 km distance race I came in 30th of 57 woman. I had a rough start but a strong consistent race, leading our pack of 4 for 3 of the 4 laps. I learned a ton about draft packs in this race. I placed 33 of 50 in the woman's technical race which was broken down onto 4 heats. I learned here about race starts and finishes in the surf and had a lot of fun. Finally, I joined a team of 4 Canadians to run a relay race with 2 Stand Up Paddleboards and 2 traditional prone Paddleboards. I earned the second highest points for Team Canada, helping our country come in 16th of the 42 nations.

2017 ISA WORLD SUP AND PADDLEBOARD CHAMPIONSHIP

The ISA Worlds was by far the most well run race I have ever attended. I got a chance to discuss my experience during the Toronto Mammoth Marathon, a 14km race around Toronto Island where I took first place.  The CBC news piece discussed who will govern the growing sport of SUP racing.

CBC Report

I am stoked to help build momentum to get SUP racing into the 2024 Paris Olympics, the ultimate goal and destination for my SUP Journey. The 2019 Pam Am Games will be held in Lima Peru, featuring both Surf & SUP Racing and will be a key event towards the Olympic goal.

I was thrilled to once again represent Canada as a member of the Canadian Surf Association at the 2017 Pan American Surfing Games, Pre-qualifier event. Here I placed top 10 for the Woman SUP Race division, helping Canada move to 4th overall.

XIII Pan American Surfing Games

The 2018 XIV Pan American Surfing Games will be the primary qualifying event, along with the International Surfing Association (ISA) Worlds in China for the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima Peru.

About PASA Peru

I have been selected once again to compete as a member of the Canadian Surfing Association Team Canada 2018 after a 3rd place finish at the Canadian National SUP Race Championships back in May in Sydney, VIC on the West Coast. I am the only East Coast member of the team and am proud to represent the incredible SUP Race Community that I am lucky to be a part of here in Ontario.

As a member of the #Ehteam, I am personally responsible to cover all of the costs associated with both the ISA Worlds in Riyue Bay, Hainan Island - China Nov 23-Dec 2 and PASA XIV Pan American Surfing Games in Puntas Rocas - Peru Dec 5-9. The costs include, training, transportation, room and board, registration fees, board transportation fees and the costs associated with taking 4 weeks off and finding care for my son Kai.

I am offering a Corporate Sponsorship Package and am looking for community support in the Barrie and East Coast areas. I am also offering a Tail Turns Karma Klass at the Lake Surfistas Annual Ladies Social October 13/14 2018 Tail Turns Karma Klass
to help raise funds to help ease the financial burden of competition for my family. If you or anyone you know may be interested and able to offer assistance I would be more then grateful.

Any support you can offer by sharing my story, following my racing and taking a moment to read this page, is all very much appreciated.
