Gohan's Medical Bills

Gohan is the actual sweetest dog you will ever meet, which is why it’s even more heartbreaking that he’s been suffering from severe canine papilloma (dog warts) since last fall. We’ve tried surgery twice, once last winter & once last spring, & have tried just about every medicine (antibiotic, vitamin, homeopathic remedy, etc) imaginable. Gohan is still a loving, playful dog, but he has been unable to be around other dogs since his diagnosis, & he’s a super social boy. He also eats slower now, & his warts clearly cause him pain, as sometimes they are bloody & scratched at. His quality of life has diminished as his wart clusters have grown larger (& often become infected too).

 

Since all the regular treatments haven’t been helping his severe case of papilloma, we sought out the Small Animal Hospital in Gainesville for specialist help, who in turn sought out the help of the clinic in Georgetown that developed a vaccine for HPV. The vets at Gainesville and the doctors at Georgetown have devised a treatment plan that includes one more surgery & then a vaccine unique to his strand of the virus. We are very hopeful this new effort will help, but we could use a little help getting the funds, as we have already spent a significant amount on this perfect puppy. We were given an estimate of around $500 for the vaccine & around $2000 for the surgery, plus we will need funds for travel (Gainesville is a few hours from Tallahassee, plus there will likely be an overnight stay to monitor his progress after the surgery) & any post-surgery medicines they might prescribe. Any extra money we receive would be donated to the vets who have helped him.

 

He is of course worth every penny (& some)! If our friends/ family/ fellow Gohan-or-all-dog-lovers could help alleviate the expenses a little bit, we would be forever grateful. All we want is to see our boy healthy & happy again. He promises he would love you forever for helping too, because he’s just that good.
