We Rock The Spectrum Kids Gym Needs Your Help!

Dear Family, Friends, and We Rock Community,

My name is Ana Bourdon and I am the owner of We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym in New Rochelle. As many of you know, this gym is the heart and soul of me and my staff, Nayra and Kayla. Many of you already know how my passion led me into starting this gym back in 2017 and with much perseverance it opened in December of 2019. Since then, we have seen so many kids blossom and accomplish major milestones! However, this all changed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. We had to close our doors on March 16, 2020 to stop the spread. No matter who you are or where you are, we have all been impacted by this pandemic to some degree. This has been a difficult time, especially for our kids.

The gym had only been open for three months and in that short time we, the staff, have developed so many new relationships. It saddens us to know how much the children and their parents/caregivers miss the gym. Our gym has become a true outlet for them to channel all of their energy in our safe environment. We would not change what we do for anything in the world because we love what we do!

We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym – New Rochelle is an indoor play place for children ages one through fourteen years of age which offers open play activities, birthday parties, private play dates, special events and welcomes class trips. Our future plans include break time, parents’ night out, one-on-one attendant care and much more! Our gym includes suspended equipment with swings for balance and vestibular treatment; crash mats and crash pillows for fun, motor planning, and strength; a zip line for stress release and joint/body relaxation. Also, a trampoline for building leg and core strength; an indoor play structure for climbing and increasing playground skills; sensory-based toys for improved auditory processing and fine motor skills; and a fine motor and arts and crafts area for improved hand-eye coordination.

We envision our gym as a community hub for programming, a safe place for respite and therapy, and a home for parents and caregivers to find meaningful adult conversation, share their personal stories, and to share information and resources. The We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym of New Rochelle has developed into its own community as staff members are always available to lend a listening ear and to support families with personal struggles they may be facing, especially those families raising and caring for a child with a disability.

As our lives change, I continued to worry about how we are going to be able to pay the gym’s rent and bills. The thought of us not being able to re-open our doors is unthinkable. The Westchester County City of New York (which includes New Rochelle) will not open until mid-June and that is subject to change.

This is why we are now reaching out for help. Without our safe haven we know so many families will not have a place to go. We urge you to consider donating to our “Go Fund Me” campaign. Every dollar contributed will make a difference in keeping our doors open so we may continue to positively impact children’s lives! Thank you in advance. Stay safe and healthy!

We love and appreciate you all,
Ana, Aiden, Nayra and Kayla
