Alejandro's "Hondo" Funeral Expenses
On Sunday, September 20, 2020, beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, Alejandro Perez Castaneda aka Big Hondo, transitioned from this life into the hands of God. Hondo had deep love for his family and friends and respected all he met on his life's journeys. He loved spending time with his 3 kids, watching sports (especially baseball games), bbq'ing, Chinese food, loud music, Elvis, gospel, and reminiscing about old times. He was humorous and playful. He was quick witted and brought laughter to many. In his early life he played sports all the way through high school and coached Youth baseball.
Later in life he was plagued by several illnesses. But even through the tough times his spirit was full of life and his essence will live on. His oldest son, Lil’ Hondo was his primary caregiver and is the main recipient of Big Hondo’s teachings. He says, “Even though my dad had his own health issues to deal with he was always more concerned with the health and well being of others. This unconditional love that my “pops” learned from his father will live on through me in my actions, thoughts, and prayers.”
It is with great humility and profound humbleness that we are asking for support from our community in helping with the funeral expenses. We wish not to be a burden on anyone so please help only if you have the means to do so. We are asking for the amount of the most basic services. Any amount that exceeds our goal will be offered to his 3 children.
Funeral services have drastically changed in the times of Covid 19. Paying respects to the family and viewing of Big Hondo will take place in a 3 hour window on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 3pm-6pm at Samaritan Funeral Home on 1505 East McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85006. Please, everyone is required to wear a mask and your temperature will be checked upon entry of the facility. There will not be a burial service nor a gathering afterwards. It is not our desire to risk everyone’s health during these peculiar times. Please hold Big Hondo and everyone near and dear to him, especially his 3 children (Hondo, Diego, & Miah) close to your hearts.
