Journee Marie graced the world with her presence on Saturday June 29, 2019. She was born at just over 29 weeks, weighing only 2 pounds and 7 ounces with the survival rate of 18%. Not only will Journee have to overcome the struggles associated with being a preemie but she was also diagnosed with CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia) while in utero. Happens approximately 1 in 2500 births. After Journee made her debut we learned she had another rare birth defect called TEF (Tracheoesophageal Fistula). Also very rare, 1 in 4000 births. The combination of having both is rarely ever heard of. Journee has a long road until she can be released from the NICU and join her family at home. Andrea and Donte are not ones to typically ask for help but they are going to need support- financial and otherwise. For the time being, both Andrea ad Donte are on leave from their jobs as they are spending every waking moment with Kamden (Journee's big brother) and Journee. Every moment is a blessing as Journee fights to remain stable and healthy. Medical bills have, unfortunately, already started coming in. This is the last thing that we need the parents worrying about. Andrea and Donte need to be able to focus all of their time and energy on Kamden and Journee - not arguing with insurance companies about what is covered/not covered, not worrying about money.
