Hennessey's Playground Project
Donation protected
In September 2014, 50 kindergarteners, pictured above, entered the doors of Hennessey Elementary School. These eager 5-year olds were ready to learn and do lots of playing! When it was time to play in the recess yard, what the children found was an asphalt slab behind the school. These 50 kindergarteners had joined the other 240 Hennessey Elementary School children that do not have a safe, green space with a playground to play in like their friends from other schools and communities. These conditions limit unstructured play which research shows can enhance social development and academic performance in the classroom. The Hennessey community has come together to support our children in their learning and development. We are committed to transforming an asphalt slab into a community-built playground and we need your help! Our goal is to raise $75,000 and we are using this forum to raise a portion of that. Please help us make this a reality for our children. Any amount you can donate, big or small, is greatly appreciated. Thank you on behalf of the 290 Hennessey Elementary School children, their families, their teachers and the entire Hennessey family!
