Help Gloria and her boys.

This is Gloria. My cousin, my soul sister, my hero, my friend. Gloria has been battling with stage 4 metastatic Leiomyosarcoma for almost 2 years. And when I say battling, I mean battling like the greatest warrior you have ever heard legend tell of.

Gloria has twin 4 1/2-year-old boys, Greyson & Emmerson. Gloria is a single mom to these 2 beautiful, rambunctious boys and along with the full time help of her 72-year-old mom Karen and many friends and family members, Gloria has managed to continue this incredible fight against her rare, reoccurring cancer.

Leiomyosarcoma is a rare and aggressive soft tissue cancer that grows at an alarming rate. In summer of 2023 she was told she was cancer free, a few weeks later the tumours were back and she had to start her 2nd round of chemo. This 2nd round appeared to be working but in February of this year the tumours started to grow exponentially and now she is fighting for her life.

Gloria is about to start her 3rd line round of chemotherapy. The hope is that this round will shrink the enormous tumours in her abdomen enough that she will be able to enjoy play time at the parks with her boys, disco dance parties with her friends and family and sip on her much-deserved glasses of wine - for many years to come. If anyone can be that less than 10% chance, she can!

Unfortunately, due to the fact that she has been battling this for almost 2 years, Gloria has not been able to work and funds for treatment, the boys care and overall living expenses are limited.

As you can imagine, the financial burden on someone and their family going through this awful time is immense.

The amount of stress this situation causes on the body is something I hope none of you ever have to experience. Although we can't control what happens with the cancer, we can in a small way control the amount of stress caused by worrying about money and caring for her boys.

When I approached Gloria about starting this page for her, she was very grateful but also thought it was a good idea to help spread awareness about Leiomyosarcoma and possibly help others going through the same thing (hence the current pictures of her with her tumour belly). That is Gloria. Even in the biggest fight of her life, she wants to find ways in which she can help someone else.

Your contribution will go to help Gloria buy groceries for her and her boys, hospital parking, medications not covered by health care, basic living expenses and give her the opportunity to explore additional possible life-saving therapies not otherwise covered by financial assistance.

Gloria has such an incredible and interesting life story and has done amazing things so far in her life. From living in Katmandu & the Maldives as a teenager to owning her own successful restaurant and her long journey with IVF to conceive her boys at 50 years old. One day once she gets through this battle she will be sharing her incredible life story.
