Mary Gamez Celebration Of Life Fund

-Our Angel-

Often times during life we are surrounded by very special people and don’t realize the impact they have on others until they are gone. We want to share a small part of the story of our Angel, our mom, with you in the hopes you too can feel the impact she had on others. My name is Montesa and on behalf of my two brothers, Ruben and Michael, this is for you Mom.

Mary Gamez, Mom, had a quality that is very rare in this world today. Mom believed in giving and helping others regardless of the circumstances, consequences, beliefs, rewards and inconveniences. She gave when she herself had nothing. Through sad times, sick times, happy times and all times, she was there for all who needed her.

Mom was very meticulous and specific with how she gave. If it was a couple of dollars, she gave. If someone needed a prayer, she lit a candle at church. If it was an ear, she listened. If it was a fever, she sliced potatoes for your head. If it was the church, she gave all of herself to all that was needed. If it was a neighbor, she shared a cup of coffee. If it was the kids in the neighborhood, she made homemade tortillas. If it was my Dad, she did whatever it took. If it was us kids, she did whatever it took. If it was a sick friend, she was the nurse. Mom asked for nothing in return, she expected nothing in return, and she refused offers of return.

Mom enjoyed simple things in life. A beautiful sunset, a snow capped mountain, a train ride, Thanksgiving with us kids and grandkids, even though she did not like turkey. Mom enjoyed a car ride to know where, she enjoyed people’s smiles knowing they were happy. Mom enjoyed watching the Ten Commandments and Ben Hur, she could talk about that for hours. Mom enjoyed running errands with others, painting the inside of her house and being with her funny cat, Spunky.

Mom will be missed by so many people, we can’t imagine the count. The best thing to all of this is, is now she is free and in Gods Kingdom. She is where she wanted to be as she often said to us. For us it hurts, but we all have to be strong and happy for Mom as she wanted us to be. She did not want anyone being upset but rather to celebrate her much deserved journey home. God had plans for her we don’t understand now, but someday will. We love you Mom.

We hope we have shed some light for you on our Angel and her amazing gifts to others. As you may know, Mom passed sudden and unexpectedly. As a result, we are asking for help to fund her Celebration of Life service in the coming weeks by donating to the gofundme account set up in her name. Any proceeds above the cost of the service will be donated to the colon cancer research center in her name.
