Gladno Polje Puppy Nursery

The Gladno Polje dog shelter houses roughly 120 street dogs in Sarajevo, Bosnia.  The shelter is funded 100% by donations and run entirely by a very small group of volunteers.  There is no electricity, no running water, and an overwhelming rodent problem.  Keeping the dogs warm, safe, fed and healthy is a constant struggle.  Sadly, we frequently lose puppies that are too young for vaccinations to diseases like parvo and distemper.  It is our dream to renovate one large room at the shelter into a nursery and quarantine area.  This room would allow up to six puppies or sick dogs to be kept completely separate from the rest of the population in individual crates, with individual bedding, bowls and food supplies to limit cross contamination.  Walls and floors in two separate exercise areas that are now raw concrete will be painted with easy to clean, non-absorbent, mold-resistant paint.  All supplies will be stored off the ground on shelves and in rat-proof bins.  And white boards will track each puppy's food, medicine and vaccination schedules.  (See attached detailed list of supplies needed).  Please consider helping us save these most vulnerable of street dogs.  We are so grateful for any contribution!
