Fight for George

On January 17,  2017  my husband George Lewis was diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer.  When they were running tests to determine the severity of his myeloma they discovered a mass in his gallbladder.  On April 13, 2017 he had his gallbladder, part of his liver, and lymph nodes removed.  After a medical board at the hospital reviewed his case they determined that he was at risk for the gallbladder cancer to return.  So we put treatment for the myeloma on hold and treated the gallbladder cancer with chemotherapy and radiation.  Meanwhile the myeloma progressed to 75% cancer cells.  His pain level also increased along with the severity of the bone lesions.  After a consult with an orthopedic surgeon George and I were told that his hip was fragmented due to the myeloma and could fracture easily.  Due to this George is confined to a wheelchair.  Our goal was to get George to the point where his cancer cells were at 10% so that he can have a stem cell transplant which could put him in remission and give him more years.  After at least 15 hospital visits he is at 20-30%.  9 of these were hospital chemo treatments.  Each visit was about a week.  At this point the doctor was worried about destroying George's stem cells.  He is now receiving chemo and immunotherapy in the clinic.  The doctor wants to continue this treatment for awhile to build George's strength.  He has lost 50 pounds total and is very weak.  He needs to be stronger to go through the stem cell transplant.  We are both proud people and have hesitated to start this fund but the cost of medical bills, travel expenses,  and medical necessities is putting a strain on us and our family financially.  This fund will enable us to travel to his doctors, pay our medical bills. and get George the necessary equipment to enable his safety and mobility.  Our car is our most urgent need.  I just got it inspected and it failed.  We travel about 500 miles each month for appointments.  I need to fix the things required to pass inspection.  Myeloma is not a cancer that can be cured at this time so George will be undergoing treatment even after the stem cell.  Any help would mean the world to us and help Fight for George.
