Rosendo "BJ" Felipe Jr's Expenses
Don protégé

Greetings! My name is Eurikca Felipe-Eustache and my younger brother, Rosendo "BJ" Felipe, Jr. is currently paralyzed from his chest and below after he was hit by a car. On Friday, October 23, 2015, my brother was riding his bicycle home from work in downtown Winston-Salem. He was riding on Broad Street (north) and before he could make the left on 5th street, a car hit him from the back. After hitting the windshield, BJ then flew approximately 40 feet across the intersection before landing. He immediately couldn't feel anything on his lower half of his body. He was rushed to the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital where he then underwent a six hour surgery: thoracic laminectomy in T2-T3 and C6-T6 fusion and plates. He spent a week in ICU, then CCU, the trauma floor and he is now undergoing physical therapy at the Sticht Center in Winston-Salem, NC. They have evaluated his condition as "complete." The medical definition: injury that results in the complete loss of function below the pointof injury.
BJ will be discharged on November 25, 2015 and will go home. He will require a home aid ($12/hour for 40/hours/week) and several medications that will help prevent blood clots ($100/daily shots), blood pressure medication and additional pain medications (several screws and rods in his back). The expenses are adding up quickly and we have been asked by many friends and family to set up a page so they can help financially. His disability and other benefits should begin in February and will alleviate a large portion of the financial burden. My family appreciates all the donations! If you donate and prefer to be anonymous, please allow us to personally thank you by reaching out to me privately. Thank you and may God bless you! We are thankful already for the miracle of BJ's survival in such a traumatic accident. We know the "Great Physician"!
In Him,
