Corbett Family

On November 16, Patrick Corbett lost his battle with cancer. Pat leaves behind his wife, Lauren, and their four beautiful children. Pat and Lauren met in their freshman year of high school. Lauren will tell you that she knew even then, that Pat was the one for her, but they remained only friends throughout high school. Lauren went on to college to study OT and Pat joined the US Marines but they stayed in touch through letters and visits when Pat was on leave. Eventually, their friendship became romantic.

After 2 tours overseas as a Marine, Pat moved home to Billerica and joined the Billerica Fire Department. He and Lauren got married and had Reid, Will and Faye. In 2018, Lauren and Pat learned she was pregnant and just after that received news of Pat's cancer diagnosis. Pat began treatment that spring and on November 4th, Pat's birthday, their son Niall was born. With Lauren at his side, Pat fought cancer the only a Marine and firefighter can - with courage and determination. He endured countless rounds of chemotherapy, and after a year-long remission the cancer came back. He underwent a hemipelvectomy and weeks of grueling recovery at rehab where his family could only wave from outside because of covid. Pat continued to fight, passing his on the road driving test in an adapted van this summer and walking indoors with a cane. Pat fought cancer until his body couldn't endure anymore and he passed away peacefully with Lauren at his side on Lunder 9.

Pat's passing away is a terrible loss for Lauren and their children and is especially difficult with the holidays approaching. Many of you have asked how we can support Lauren during this time. We will continue to have the meal train available for Monday dinners and have added dates through next November. The goal of this gofundme is to help make Christmas special for the Corbett clan. Lauren would like to thoughtfully choose the kids' gifts but our donations will help her do that without financial worry.
