Ironman 2020

Tax deductible
Hello all.  Not so long ago, a crazy idea popped into my head that I wanted to compete in an Ironman triathlon, and as it so happens this idea stuck and there is one in Bolton next July.  The Ironman is a race that involves a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile cycle and a marathon distance of running.  The magnitude of the challenge can seem daunting at times, but there’s no better motivator than doing something for a cause greater than yourself.

The purpose of putting myself through this is to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.  It’s a sad reality that for most people, cancer has touched our lives in one form or another.  For those unaware, my father was diagnosed with throat cancer last year.  I am overwhelmingly proud of my dad, notably for fighting so bravely and beating this bastard of an illness.  Having experienced this in my own home, as I am sure some of you can relate, I can’t quite express enough my appreciation for our cancer healthcare services.  It’s important to reflect that a huge proportion of this is reliant on charities, such as Macmillan.

I want to raise as much money as I can for Macmillan, because for me it seems to be a cause that is worth doing something ridiculous for.  Please sponsor me in this fight, it means everything.
