Golden Key Swinburne’s annual SPARK Event is on again. This year we are raising money for Backpack 4 Kids Victoria (BP4KV).
When children go into foster care or emergency care they usually only have the clothes that they are wearing. They also suffer at school because they don’t have the supplies needed to get through a school day. BP4KV is a registered Not For Profit charitable organisation that aids children going into Out of Home care. They provide My Essentials Packs, which contain basic clothing and necessities such as toiletries, clothing, pyjamas, a torch and toys. These packs are then distributed to children via foster care agencies, the Department of Health and Human Services or Victoria Police.

Golden Key Swinburne will use the money raised to create stationary packs. These will then be given to children in need as a part of the My Essential Packs. Our stationary packs will contain items such as pens, rulers and exercise books. These packs will help children improve their literacy, which will bring hope to a child’s life.
We aim to help 100 children through this event. This means raising $500 before the end of August 2019. We will then have a packing day, where individual items are packed by Golden Key volunteers and presented to Back Pack 4 Kids Victoria.
Golden Key is an honour society with chapters at universities all over the world. Our members are from the top 15% of university graduates. Through our SPARK events, we aim to contribute to the community by improving literacy in children worldwide.
The mission of SPARK a Change is to impact and improve the lives of at-risk youth (ages 0-17) through literacy, education and real-world preparedness. Golden Key members are service minded individuals who strive to make a positive difference in their communities and around the world. This initiative helps the next generation to discover and unlock their potential.
