My dearest friend, Heidi of 35 years has cancer and needs your help. She has Neck and Throat cancer which has spread to her ear and sinus cavity. It is also in her bone and lymph nodes.
It has effected her hearing and at times her eye and jaw swells from the inflammation.
She bravely left her home away from her family, friends and coworkers in Marietta, GA and traveled to Knoxville, TN to endure 7 weeks of Chemo along with cutting edge technology of Proton Treatment Therapy.
Proton therapy is currently offered in 26 states and Knoxville was the closest to her home. Proton therapy is only currenlty offered to patients with a certain type of cancer. She wears a tightly fitted mask that covers her face and down her neck past her shoulders while lying still for around an hour. She needs the correct amount of medicine administered during the procedure to control her anxiety as well as her pain.
She finished, successfully, her first Chemo and Proton treatment today. I am proud of her, excited for her and can finally see the light at the end of the dark painful tunnel. She was there for 10 hours today. She needed a little bit more care and time then we expected. She doesn't see the light yet, but we can get her there.

As hard as it is for me to say, it is as hard to ask for your financial and moral support.
She asked me yesterday what she did to deserve this.
The sweetest most loving and giving soul thinks she deserves this! It broke my heart.
I told her that NO ONE deserves this, but everyone deserves the chance for remission. To live again, to love and be loved.
There is no price tag for her life. No maximum amount of Hope you can provide to her.
$18,000 for treatment (insurance not yet confirmed)
$1900 for 7 weeks of Housing (thank you to the family)
$250 copay every trip to the Emergency room
