Giving food & hope to displaced flood victims

Tax deductible
Disaster zones continue long after the media stops covering the stories of damage caused. This is the case in Northern NSW, where waves of torrential rains continue and many people are hanging by a thread.

AMURT are registered charity that has been providing disaster relief support for over 30 years and focuses specifically on supporting the most vulnerable within affected communities.

In this instance, AMURT has identified that hundreds of flood victims have lost their homes and do not have access to cooking facilities to make hot meals, despite some food donations such as fruits and vegetables. After nearly a full month since the first wave of flooding, a lack of ability to make hot meals is bringing many to breaking point.
- AMURT is aiding in the disaster recovery efforts by making sure these people have hot meals provided to them.
- AMURT has also been responding and providing physical labour and assistance to people, especially in lower socio-economic areas where little support has been received (areas such as Casino, Broadwaters, Coraki, Woodburn), as well as small farms where roads have been blocked and no one has come to help.

This crowdfunding campaign is raising money specifically for the purchase of food supplies and utilities required to be able to produce enough food to cater to as many people as possible. AMURT is completely grassroots and largely self-funded; their efforts to date in producing and delivering hot meals have been conducted with small gas cookers and rice cookers. They need help to scale their efforts, so even small donations are appreciated.

Please help if you can, lots of hands make for light work.

All donations are tax deductible. For more information about this charity, please feel free to check out previous disaster relief efforts https://amurt.info/emergencyrelief/ and to learn more about Ananda Marga, visit: https://www.anandamarga.org.au/

Examples of disaster relief efforts by Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team Ltd.:
  • The Black Saturday Bush Fires - Australia, early responders
    * Hurricane Haiyan - Phillipines
    * AMURT partners provided hospital equipment that AMURT packed into a container and sent to our counterpart in the Philippines. This enabled the AMURT medical program in the Philippines to provide better health care to the communities it serves.
    * In Nepal, AMURT is engaged in long term reconstruction and rehabilitation in response to the Nepal earthquake.
    * AMURT Australia's financial assistance is part of a global AMURT commitment to this effort and enables this relief work to continue.
    * Cyclone Idai - MOZAMBIQUE
    * AMURT runs a permanent presence in Xai Xai, Mozambique. We run a school and a community support program. Thus when the cyclone hit the Beira, Sofala province, AMURT responded within a few hours and sent out an appeal worldwide through our network.
