Giving a family a special Christmas!

For anyone that doesn’t know me, my name is Drake. I’m a Chef with a very large food, beverage, and retail company; I also do a lot of traveling with the company. We provide this service for many sports and entertainment venues across the country. I’ve met so many amazing people from all different walks of life in my travels.

In a recent trip to Arkansas, I met two brothers that were both in their 20s. Both are very hard working, and just great to be around. One of them really hit it off with all of us Chefs, and he spent at lot of time outside of work with us where we really got to know him. It didn’t take long for us to piece together that they had a pretty rough life with their parents in and out of jail. We also learned the younger of the two brothers has two young daughters under 5, and both brothers have two twin brothers that are 13 years old. The older brothers have basically been taking care of them since they were teenagers themselves.

We later learned that the two brothers, the one brothers girlfriend, and the 4 kids all share a two bedroom apartment. These brothers sacrificed the years they should be out having fun for their family. This really restored my faith in humanity. So I thought to myself, why don’t I do something special for them for Christmas? I’ve been blessed with amazing parents and family my entire life. The holidays were always such a time for celebration.

Once I got older, I realized that some families struggle to put food on the table. Let alone getting a bunch of presents for their children. So something in me said you gotta do something nice for these people. But then knowing how blessed a lot of my friends and family are, I decided to share this with everyone. Because I knew some of them would want to get in on this as well. My plan is to get the kids some things they want because every kid deserves presents on Christmas. Also, depending on how much we can raise, I plan on putting the rest on a prepaid visa or MasterCard.

That way the family can use the money for whatever they may need.

I also want to finish this off by saying that in no way are these people expecting handouts. The information I know was just put together from spending an extended amount of time with the older of the two brothers. So let’s all see what we can do to spread a little holiday cheer.
