Tim Veach Memorial Fund

[Updated by Bridgett on behalf of my mom]

It is with incredible sadness that we are changing the focus of this campaign. On the afternoon of April 24th, Tim Veach passed away with my loving and heartbroken mother by his side.

This GoFundMe was originally set up help defray medical costs on what we hoped was Tim's path to recovery. While the path lead Tim to heaven instead of back to mom, the cost of that care remains, as well as additional costs for final arrangements and other deficits incurred as a result of these last few months.

While my mom is doing her best to keep associated costs at a minimum and working with the medical providers to reduce existing bills, the financial burden is still daunting. Based on the current circumstances, I’ve recommended that mom increase the campaign goal to $15,000 to more closely reflect the financial burden of the past and coming months (although with a few straggling bills coming in the final total will likely be higher). While we don’t anticipate meeting this ambitious goal (and we are greatly appreciative of everyone’s gracious donations given so far!), I figured it wouldn’t hurt to be open about the actual need.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to this campaign! It has meant so much to my mom that so many people were (and are!) willing to support her and Tim. For those who may not have it within your resources to donate, she thanks you for you continued emotional support as she goes though this very difficult time.

Thank you

Bridgett

ORIGINAL POST

As many of you know, Tim has been critically ill, and in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Meridian Park Hospital for almost a month now.

What started with an innocent ERCP procedure to remove gallstones led to an acute case of pancreatitis, and then a life-threatening situation involving multiple organ malfunctions.

At this time, we do not know how much longer he will be in the hospital. The doctors say he will need a time in rehabilitation as well to receive various therapies (PT, OT, SLP).

As a result, Tim will be unable to work for some time, and I will continue to take some unpaid days off as needed to aid in his recovery.

While we want Tim to take the time he needs to recover, even with insurance the medical costs associated with these unexpected complications have started to add up.

Any donations will go directly toward defraying the cost of Tim’s  medical expenses and ongoing recovery costs.

It’s definitely outside my comfort zone to even suggest a financial donation. This is just an honest response to so many people asking how they can help; it is just one of several ways. Even if you are not able to contribute financially, your continued emotional support and prayers are always very much appreciated.

3/6/18 UPDATE:

Thank you so much for all your generous contributions!!! I was surprised and humbled to see that the original $1,000 goal was exceeded within 24 hours! It is clear that Tim has many people that love him!

After meeting the original goal, I grappled with whether I should change the goal to reflect the actual need of $5,000, because I did not want to appear greedy. On the other hand, I do not want a fear of “what someone else might think” stop me from honestly stating the full need. If more donations are made, that will be much appreciated, and if not, that is certainly OK too!

I very much appreciate all that have so selflessly donated to Tim’s medical expenses thus far. Words cannot express my appreciation! Tim will be able to thank you soon as well!
