On October 16, 2024, my friend, Cynthia, had just finished a shift at the hospital where she worked as a nurse. She received news that the body of her beautiful 21 year-old son was found in his apartment. Dean was a student attending college away from home. This is every parent worst nightmare. Dean was Cynthia's only child. While investigators are still working on his case, Cynthia has been riddled with the why's.

She is in tremendous pain with this devasting loss. However, working as a traveling nurse does not give her bereavement compensation. She is looking at returning to work or risk losing her home.
