Please share and help me send love and support to Cristi Painter as she survives the suicide of her sweet husband, Ben. We are trying raise $12,000 to cover immediate expenses and pay some of the bills for starting the Sand Cherry Coffee shop so Cristi can move forward into a hopeful future on her own.
On Friday, March 6, 2019 Cristi found her husband Ben’s body. He had committed suicide with a shotgun. Cristi’s resiliency and love for others makes her willing to openly share her story to bring attention to mental illness, suicide, and the impact of such an act on loved ones and community. I want to share her story to bring attention to an amazing woman during a challenging time in her life and try to help raise funds for her current and future financial challenges.
In addition to the grief and struggle that come with being the spouse in a suicide incident, it’s become apparent that coffee shop they had worked so hard for and hoped to open this spring, Sand Cherry Coffee, won’t be able to be finished. It is unknown if this contributed to Ben’s actions but the sudden tragedy and expenses compound the already depleted funds and outstanding obligations.
