Give Aaryn a Lift

Aaryn is an amazing 15-year-old who loves two things…  his music and his mom and though he has a family who cares for and adores him, he and his mom are in need of some help.

A Fighter from the Start

Aaryn was born prematurely at 26 weeks weighing 1 lb and 14.5 oz and spent the first two months of his life fighting for survival in a NICU unit in Atlanta.

Due to a level 4 brain bleed on his left side and level 2 bleed on his right side, Aaryn developed cerebral palsy and was also diagnosed with autism and severe mental delays.

Aaryn has never been able to sit or stand by himself and has only known life in a wheelchair. But recently, Aaryn got an upgrade that allows him to at least have a small level of independence. He now has a customized powerchair that he’s quickly learning to steer by himself!              

Now Aaryn Needs a Lift

The challenge now is his mom needs to have her van converted in order to more easily accommodate Aaryn’s new wheelchair. She’s done the research and it would be too costly to pay off her van and purchase one that’s already converted. Instead, she’s opting to go the cheaper route of converting her van and having a lift installed.

The cost for the van conversion, automatic lift and installation is approximately $20,000 and we want to help her to raise the total amount.

About Aaryn’s mom…

Aaryn’s mom, Garnetta is one of the most amazing and fearless women you will ever meet. She’s a single mom who somehow manages to provide Aaryn with an amazing life. In essence, she simply gets the job done -- without the support of a partner.

Aaryn has had a total of six surgeries, including a spinal fusion, two orthopedic surgeries to put his hips back in his socket -- and to straighten his feet, and one to install a pump in his stomach that delivers a steady dosage of medicine to help loosen his muscles, so he won’t be in constant pain.

In addition to many routine appointments, Garnetta has also loved him through countless middle of the night ER hospital visits… Because he has limited mobility, Aaryn does not get to exercise his lungs. This makes him susceptible to colds and infections and it takes twice as long as it does others to heal.

What’s most amazing about Garnetta is she takes excellent care of Aaryn and she does all that she does --- without complaint. No murmuring. No hesitation. No feeling sorry for herself… or Aaryn. Just love.

So, we are asking family and friends and kind-hearted individuals who would like to help, to come together to raise the money needed for Aaryn’s lift, so this will be the one thing that Garnetta does not have to worry about and do on her own.
