Give a Native American a Break

Kotah is a Navajo American Indian who courageously moved to Minnesota 3 years ago to get away from a bad situation in New Mexico and start a new life here. She has had difficulties with alcohol and got her first DWI last year and lost her car in the accident. She has since been in a recovery/diversion program, which was soon to be completed. She also got into a stable living situation with her friend, who recently purchased a house. She has been unemployed 8 months (but never took an unemployment check!) and just started a permanent job at UPS yesterday. I have known her for 3 years. We have exercised together and I have encouraged her in other ways to avoid alcohol. She is an amazing young woman; her wit and photography skills are wonderful. She loves people and animals and feels like a dark cloud is over her.
Everything seemed to be getting better for Kotah. However, last night, she was boiling water and spilled the entire pot on her two feet. I rushed her to the hospital. I was there until 2am in the morning. She was howling in pain and crying as the doctors cut her dead skin away from the third-degree burns. She is okay, but now she won't be able to work (and will probably lose her new job). Also, she is ineligible for UPS health insurance for 9 months. Her recovery may take a couple of months and she will "waddle" for a few months more.
Kotah could use some financial help to cover her medical bills and living expenses. I have helped her a lot, but she could use some more. Please help her and share this story.
