I'm Elizabeth R. McClellan, and for the past eight years I've given my all as a domestic and sexual violence attorney helping survivors all over the state of Tennessee with their legal needs. Y'all raised just over $12,000 to help me during a layoff in 2023 on this fundraiser, but between medical bills for my chronic illnesses, the rising cost of living, making the minimum payment on my student loans so I can qualify for forgiveness, and the salary cuts I've had to take through the years, my savings are exhausted and I'm struggling to meet the bills. The new goal will pay off the $700 water bill incurred when my pipes broke in multiple places in the January blizzard, the past due student loan, another 3 months of car insurance, the medical bills already incurred for the treatment necessary before my surgery and the upcoming round of bills for the two appointments I have in May, and put a minimal cushion in my monthly budget so I'm not robbing Peter to pay Paul.

So, like I said. If you're struggling? Don't make things harder on my account. But if you've followed my good work, and you want to put some money in my pocket for insurance and bills and little treats while I take the first rest time I've had since before law school, I will honor your gift, and pay it forward as I always have. I need medical care; I need surgery; I need rest. Anything over covering the bills will go toward the medical care and surgery costs still to come. Anything you can give is a great gift. It hurts me to ask for myself when I've always asked for others, but if you don't ask, it won't happen. I appreciate you all.
