Back in May of last year my wife Odaly was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. I was an independent long haul truck driver at that time , with no benefits. I immediately found a position as a company driver. I thought the problems were taken care of . I had benefits,Odaly started her plan of treatment which would 16 doses of Chemo, Surgery and Radiation. Everything is set right?
While on my way home for Christmas I began to see a flashing light out of the corner of my eye. By Christmas eve morning I started to see spots, by the evening it was as if someone had pulled a curtain in front of my right eye. My daughter rushed me to the emergency room , I was informed that I had a retinal detachment and that it would require immediate surgery. I spent Christmas day at Duke Medical Center and the day after Christmas I had surgery. I was suppose to be out for 8 to 10 weeks in recovery, My employer gave me till the 25th of Feb. to return to work. So I am all good right insurance continues while i am on leave of absence . Along comes Murphy, I go in for a check up on my progress. They find that my retina has detached again. I have another round of surgery on 14th Feb. and have another 8 to 10 weeks of recovery lose of employment and benefits.
Now the Cobra insurance is $1414.00 per month, I am trying to raise these funds to keep Odaly insured so that we can complete her cancer treatments . She has completed the Chemo and only has the surgery and radiation to go. I realize that we all have our own obligations but if you could all find in your hearts to give a dollar and share this among your friends we can get this done. I appreciate any help at all, it is literally a matter of life and death. Thank you in advance.
