GISB Fun Run
Tax deductible
Our event on Saturday was a great success...thanks to all the runners, volunteers, and supporters!
You still have time to give! Donations will be accepted until Sunday, November 12.
Half of the funds raised will go directly to help Puerto Rico, and half will go toward the purchase of two additional gymnastics mats for GISB.
The Puerto Rico donation will be made through "Waltham Latino," the account name for Santuario Church, a Latino ministry of the Lutheran church based at First Lutheran Church in Waltham. Santuario, under the leadership of Pastor Angel Marrero (a Puerto Rico native), will distribute all donations equally among five non-profit community service organizations: Proyecto Matria; Taller Salud; Casa Pueblo; Proyecto Enlace; and Proyecto Peces.
This year’s course is a 1 km loop on park trails, to give untrained runners, kids, and parents the incentive to participate.
A suggested monetary value of 5 - 10 dollars is allocated per 1 km lap.
Students can earn the running badge of the German Athletics Federation (DLV). The distance and speed a student runs is not important, rather that they run continuously at any tempo for either 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
