S.O.S - Save Our Scholarships

                       
The Granada International School  is in need of your support  to keep our doors open to our students.  Due to the current political turmoil  Nicaragua is experiencing, the country and our school are in an economic crisis. With the lack of tourism, unemployment is climbing and will reach  a high of 60% within the year. Both Nicaraguans and foreigners are leaving the country in droves.

In the past year:

We have lost over 40% of our enrollment due to families either leaving the country or experiencing financial hardships and cannot  continue to pay. This was approximately $8,000 of our monthly income. 

We were forced to close the doors on our self-sustainable project, Ole, due to the lack of tourism. Ole sold unique items made solely in Nicaragua by local artists and women cooperatives. The store                      contributed approximately $2,000 per month toward our scholarship program.

We have lost the monthly revenue of approximately $500  from our Colonial Home Tours, an ongoing fundraiser, due to the lack of tourism.


    
The Board of Directors, the teachers and the parents are fighting  hard to keep the school open and  to continue  providing a quality education to the children of Granada.  Our school is unique as it gives back to the community with scholarships to local children. Many of our sponsors for these children are no longer able to offer their financial support.  We are hoping you can help us to continue giving these children the education they deserve to change their lives and that of their families.


How you can help change the life of a child…

There are many ways you can help us change the life of a child and ensure that he has a bright future. Monetary contributions with tax exemption can be made through our 501c(3) corporation in the United States, Friends of the Sacuanjoche School, Inc.  

 Sponsoring a Child

If you would like to sponsor a child, either with a full or half scholarship, this would make a huge difference to a family. Payments can be made monthly by PayPal or automatically deducted through your credit or debit card.  Sponsors receive and update on the child each quarter with photos and notes from the teacher.

Kindergarten Sponsorship is $2,200 per year
Primary School   $2,500 per year
Middle School $3,000 per year

A monthly contribution of $100 will help us decrease our monthly deficit and  keep our doors open. We are working hard on this as well with many different types of fundraisers. 



You and Granada International School 

Granada International School started with a good idea and grew because others believed in the same idea.  The truth is that our future and the future of each and every one of our students depends upon you and others like you believing our project to send support.  The children of Nicaragua laugh at the same jokes and play the same silly games as the children in more modern countries but they do not have the same future full of opportunities and possibilities.  This is their opportunity.  This is where they learn about the possibilities.  And this is your opportunity to make all of that possible.  Please look into the faces of our students and remember that all of them deserve the chance of a bright future; please help make that possible.
