On December 12th, Giovanni Pantoja lost his life at 25 years old after a long battle with Ewing sarcoma, a rare type of cancer.
This GoFundMe was made by his friend with the permission of his family to help them cover the expenses of his funeral.
Gio was a born and raised Midlander and in his time on Earth he earned the love and loyalty of countless people who were lucky enough to get to know him. He was a true friend who would do anything for you if you asked. If you didn’t, he’d do it anyway. That’s who he was.
His determination and willingness to help is what made him thrive wherever he went. Since he was a little kid, Gio dreamed of working alongside Jay Hendricks at his local news station. Years later, he earned a seat as a primetime producer for CBS7 News and became a cherished member of the team. Even when his condition got worse, he would still work from home giving it his all up until the days before he died.
Gio was also an optimist. He was diagnosed with cancer in December 2016, which he beat back once before it returned again in June 2019. Although his life as a young man was unfairly difficult, he never let it get him down. No matter what life threw at him, Gio took it headfirst with a big smile and a laugh you could hear across the room.
Everyone who knew Gio well loved him, will miss him and will always remember him.
