Gideon's Medical Fund

Jobie and Anna Ruhl have been blessed with eight children ranging in age from two months to fourteen years old.  Jobie works as a history teacher at the local public school, and Anna is a stay at home mom who homeschools the children.

Several years ago, five of the children were infected with Lyme's disease as a result of being bitten by deer ticks.  As the disease has progressed, it has caused symptoms ranging from chronic seizures and headaches to constant physical pain and other neurological symptoms.

Early last week, the Ruhl's 12 year old son Gideon, began experiencing constant seizures.  He became unresponsive and was rushed to the hospital.  For several days, he remined unresponsive in the ICU.  It was hard to see Gideon attached to so many wires, and tubes breathing for him and monitoring brain activity.  The doctors were concerned that he had been unresponsive for so long, and warned Jobie and Anna to be prepared for the worst.  Knowing the power of their God, the Ruhls prayed for a miracle.

By God's grace , Gideon has made huge strides!  He is now awake, able to walk with some assistance, understand, and talk some.  The road ahead will be long.  There is speech therapy, physical therapy, and further treatment for Lyme.

Because of what happened to Gideon, the doctors are recommending more treatment for all five children infected with Lyme.  Unfortunately, since there is so much that the medical community has yet to learn about Lyme, and treatments are varied, they are not covered by the Ruhl's insurance.

Would you consider donating to help the Ruhl family with medical expenses and treatment?  The financial burden is enormous.  All of your donations will go toward medical expenses and treatment for Gideon as well as Jedaiah, Arrow, Hosanna, and Moses (the other four children who have Lyme.)

We know that Jesus Christ is powerful.  His love and faithfulness are amazing.  He has worked nothing less than a miracle in Gideon this far, and we are certain that further healing will come from His hand.  Above all, Anna says, "The joy of the Lord is rich and deep. Pray that it will fill [the children's] hearts and lives.  It will be a joy that has nothing to do with happy (or even healthy!) circumstances.  It has to do with looking in the face of God and knowing He is all we'll ever need."
