Gideon Sinkhole Emergency

On June 9 my friends, Athena & Mike, discovered a newly opened sinkhole right outside their front door to the home they own and live in.  It goes right up against the foundation of the house, hopefully not under but unsure until repairs begin. It goes under their driveway, front porch and steps.  It’s a “significant sinkhole” appearing to be 7 ft. deep and 10 ft. wide.  They have contacted the city and the county who cannot help but said to hire a Geotecnical Engineer, which they’ve now done ($600). Now they are hiring an excavator to fill the hole properly, which has no guarantees and is very expensive.  So far estimates range from $10,000 to $25,000 to fill the hole, not including repouring
the driveway or raising the porch, which has sunk a bit. This is financially out of reach for them, as I’m sure it is for most people. They’ve reached out to several charities and financial assistance programs but don’t qualify for any of them. This is obviously a very urgent situation, as their home is at risk of falling in, so they need this fixed ASAP.  Thank you for any donation you can make and thank you for sharing!
