Gibby and Brennan Strong!

If you know Darrick Brown or have followed him on social media, attended his mental performance events, softball camps or played for the many hockey, softball or baseball teams he’s coached, you know he wears his heart on his sleeve and pours everything into his family, players, and everyone he encounters. Now more than ever, Darrick needs this incredible network to lift him and his family in prayer and to hold him up as he begins to navigate this new journey.

On Saturday, January 14, 2023, Darrick’s children, Gibson (18) and Brennan (15) their mother Katrina and their foreign exchange sister were involved in a tragic car accident returning from Brennan’s hockey game. Thankfully Gibson and their FE sister, did not sustain physical injuries. Both Katrina and Brennan were air-lifted to Grand Rapids hospital due to the severity of their injuries, sadly they lost their mother Katrina in the accident. Brennan suffered significant injuries and remains hospitalized and will most likely be transferred to Mary Free bed to begin his long road to recovery.

During this time, the family will need to begin the grieving and emotional healing process. Darrick will need to support and advocate Brennan’s recovery, while providing love and care for Gibson and their emotional support dog, Maizie. Geographically, this will be a challenge mentally, emotionally, and financially.
