Hello, my name is Jamawn Woods and this is my story.
In the summer of 2011, I was blessed with the opportunity to compete for a chance to win 3 restaurants on a national tv show called "America's Next Great Restaurant" hosted by Chef Bobby Flay . America's Next Great Restaurant was a 9 week competition between 20 amateur cooks where the winner would open his own chain of restaurants(Hollywood,NYC & Mall of America). After 9 weeks, I was announced the winner and was blessed with 3 restaurants. On May 3rd 2011, the doors opened to my chain of soul food restaurants(Soul Daddy) as You can imagine I was beyond excited to win the show and to become the founder of my own 3 restaurants . Unfortunately my excitement didn't last long. After 2 months of the openings of my restaurants one of the investors /judges(that was out voted) decided to pull the plug on a dream that came true. Steve Ells, owner of Chipotle ,closed all 3 of my restaurants! Yes, I was hurt and devastated but I didn't let that stop me from chasing my dream of being in the food business. Since 2011, I have been running my small catering service and selling food out of my home with over 10,000 orders sold over the past 3 years. Im here today asking for donations to help me fund a food truck so that I can continue to feed people in the metro Detroit area and the Midwest states. With your help this dream can come true.
