Hello! We are The Refuge, San Francisco's newest theater company. Welcome to our gofundme campaign! In July we will present an amazing cast in a professional production of the Tony Award-winning musical Next to Normal! The Refuge will be a place of new ideas, new talent, and a fierce devotion to theater. We will bring in the very best college kids, primarily freshman, and sophomores that are pursuing careers in musical theater. Local talent will also be featured. The funds raised will allow us to present performing opportunities for young artists, designers, musicians and tech specialists. The community will be served great theater at a great price in a beautiful theater in San Francisco.
In addition, every fall we will present a full musical in concert with both college students and local teens. With a full orchestra, concert lighting and a large ensemble we'll present well loved and rarely performed works.
The funds raised will join a generous contribution from the Matheny/Plamondon family. Funds will go to licensing of the show, theater rental, salaries for the union orchestra and cast, sets, costumes, advertising and more.
Theater is expensive! The show is soon. Rehearsals begin on June 19th! Your support will be an affirmation of our work, a gift to the Bay Area and a boon to theater.
