Transportation

I'm looking for funding to buy decent transportation. My current car has served me very well, but it has 270,000 miles on it, and 16 upstate NY winters! It is slowly falling apart, and in my job I need reliable transportation.

My work consists of providing veteran outreach in the hill towns of Rensselaer County, NY. I work for a not for profit, so the job, while rewarding in the sense that I get to help my fellow veterans, pays less than half my salary from when I was in the military. Further, I am still recovering from being unemployed for a year, so car payments and expensive car repairs are out of the question. I do all repairs on my cars myself, but there is only so much duct tape can do!

For $2000, I can get a reliable car that I will be able to keep running myself. Nothing fancy, just transportation. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
