Hi everyone! Gypse Freq Circus needs your help to put out our next album!
This crazy dream started many years ago when Sunny and I were young. Sunny always knew he wanted to be a musician, and learned to play many musical instruments, from the flute to drums to the piano. As a child, Sunny would occasionally go over to his uncles' home and was enthralled with the grand piano in their living room. Uncle Donn, an accomplished pianist, was also a kind soul who sat with Sunny and showed him the basics of piano. Sunny has lots of fond memories there. Sadly, Uncle Donn has since passed, and Uncle Mark sold the house.
Meanwhile, I grew up hundreds of miles away singing in church, singing in choir, strumming a guitar, and scribbling down my thoughts in journals and poetry books. I also read books constantly, fiction mostly at first and poetry as I got older. I pulled out the inserts of cassette tapes and CDs and pored over the lyrics. As a young adult, I used to joke that I was just waiting for a band to discover me so I could be the lead singer. Little did I know that the universe would bring me and Sunny together where both of our dreams were waiting!
In 2017, Sunny was producing and DJing when he secured an opportunity to perform at Harmony Park Music Garden in a headlining slot, but didn't have music, a band or a show. Over the course of about two months, we put together a band and a set of world-inspired electronic hybrid music with dancers and theatrics . I was a guest vocalist, and the music was mainly instrumental. With only two rehearsals and SO much help from our friends, we pulled together a magical stage performance. People started asking when our album was coming out. The universe was pushing us, and over the next couple months, I wrote lyrics and we recorded our first album, Dervish. The momentum kept us going, and less than a year later, we released our second album, Phoenix. There are so many times this project has felt like it has a life all it's own!
In spring of 2019, Sunny reached out to an amazing producer, Kevin Bowe, about recording our third album and we went to meet him at his new studio. We were both flabbergasted when we pulled up in front of Donn and Mark's old house, where Sunny played on the grand piano with Uncle Donn so many years ago. Mark sold the house to Kevin and the lower level is now an incredible recording studio. The universe seemed to be giving us another nudge.
This is an amazing opportunity to record with a multi-platinum producer in a studio space that has special meaning to us. The money we raise here will be used to pay for studio recording time, production, mixing, mastering and pressing CDs. We hope to begin recording sessions in November or December, but can't begin the process without the support of our friends and family. The last two records were completely self-funded and somewhat DIY. This time around we want to maximize our potential by getting more professionals involved.
We are so grateful to our fans for all the love. It's YOUR kind words and encouragement that help keep us going when it would easier to give up. Now we are asking for some financial support. We know we have an unbelievable tribe behind us and we hope with your help, we can jump to the next level. Our dream is to build this band to the point where both Sunny and I can be full-time musicians and raise a family together. We think this next record is a brilliant next step.
