It is with great sadness that I am writing this gofundme for Coach Joe Smith who passed away on 11/7/2020. This campaign is for his wife Ashley, and their 5 children ranging from 3-12 years old who could really use some help right now. They are the type of people who would do anything for anyone. I am asking anyone who can to please consider helping however you can and read their story below. It could not be any more heartfelt or sadder.
Joe Smith fought a long, courageous, and painful battle with a rare cancer for the last 2 years. Joe was only in his mid 20’s when he was diagnosed. He had too many painful procedures and treatments to mention across the country and never gave up. Joe and Ashley had their first child at 15 and Joe worked numerous jobs at once since a teenager to support them and their family. Joe was an amazing father, husband, football coach, friend, and so much more. There are a lot of broken-hearted little boys around town right now who will always remember and miss “Coach Joe”. Not only did he teach so many boys the game of football, but most importantly he loved them like they were his own…. and was the first to defend them in that same way. Joe was like a father to so many and was truly an inspiration to all who knew him. I always remember Joe smiling, coaching and being so positive, no matter what was going on in his life or the pain he may have been in. Joe left an amazing legacy for his own children and many others on what a MAN, a FATHER, a HUSBAND, and a COACH should be... and none of us will forget it. His influence will live on in so many for years to come. Although none of us can imagine the pain this family is in right now….I hope we all can help at least ease their rough road ahead with our donations.
