Get Adam Home Spinal Cancer Fund

My name is Jillian Dery (maiden name Yogis) and I've started this fundraiser to help my little brother Adam, who's only 20 years old.

On October 1st, Adam went to the emergency room due to leg numbness. By the time an MRI found a tumor inside Adam's spine that night, he was already paralyzed from the chest down due to a lesion on the tumor bleeding. Surgeons removed most of the tumor the next morning, but weeks later the pathology indicated an extraordinarily rare and aggressive cancer known as diffuse midline glioma; a grade 4 tumor with a very poor prognosis.

Adam is still paralyzed from the chest down and will be starting 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy on November 14, 2017 to target the remaining tumor tissue. The main goal in front of us right now is to be able to afford the medical equipment that will be needed inside my parent's home just to have Adam living at home for his treatment; he has been hospitalized since October 1st, 2017.
The house requires two vertical lifts ($6875 each), one stair lift ($3900) and one ramp ($4500); totalling $22,150.
There are no taxes since it is medical equipment. Some other things that will be needed before he can come home is equipment to help him get in and out of the shower, an adjustable bed, safety bars and transferring equipment throughout the house. Healthcare will be providing one wheelchair but the back is not included and can cost up to one thousand dollars alone. Once I have exact costs for the remaining items, I will edit this page to include them.

Right now, the most important thing is getting Adam home to be with his family through his treatment. He needs to be as comfortable as possible and surrounded by love to face this next phase of his life as well equipped as possible.

Beyond the equipment needed to get him home, there will be a lot of expenses involved in providing him the care and comfort he will need during and after treatment. Again, as I get exact expenses, I will edit to include.
