I was in a car accident very recently (12/19), wherein nobody was seriously injured, but my poor car was completely totalled.  She was a cranky piece of machinery, but I loved her and unfortunately, without her I'm pretty much unable to work- no matter how uninjured I am. Still, that's what insurance is for, right? Unfortunately, my insurance company was less than helpful and wasted almost a week before informing me that I was not actually covered anymore, and all they would be covering would be the tow.
The tow company has worked with me to pay for the cost of storing my car for over a week while my insurance company figured out how to be useless, and that is taken care of. That still leaves me without a car and unable to work, though, with bills adding up rather quickly.  My family has done what they can to help, but there's only so much each person can do, and there just aren't a lot of us.
I've never been comfortable asking for money from people.  In this case though, I think, pride goeth before the fall and I really can't take much more falling.
I'm not asking for anyone to take out a second on the house or anything, but five dollars here, three dollars there... it adds up quickly.
I'm 35% there already, and I just need a little more help before I can finish up on my own.
