Getting Noah an Insulin Pump!

Donation protected

I am starting this fundraiser to help my good friend and supervisor at work Kira Wilkin raise money to help her purchase an insulin pump for her 12 year old son Noah! Unfortunately, the out-of-pocket expenses for a new Tandem Pump cost approximately $2500. Kira is a hard-working mother of three who works relentlessly for her children. Her son Noah was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on August 7th 2018, he received his implanted continuous glucose monitor in December 2018. However, he currently receives 8+ injections of insulin via needles a day. This has caused Noah to develop lipohypertrophic scar tissue from excessive needle sticks. We are raising money for a Tandem pump so that he will be able to change his site once every 3 days. Also a huge bonus to having a pump is that his pump will shut off the delivery of insulin, which lowers his blood sugar, if it reads a low blood sugar from his Dexcom continuous glucose monitor. The risk of dangerously low blood sugar levels or hypoglycemia can frighten any parent or loved one, getting this new pump for Noah will alleviate the stress that comes with raising a child with Type 1 Diabetes and will allow Noah the freedom to be a kid!
