Our Family of 8 people went on a dream holiday to Ayres Rock - Uluru. On our first night our 78 year old father fell seriously ill and had to be air lifted by The Royal Flying Doctor Service 462km to Alice Springs. We cancelled the rest of our holiday and travelled 5 hours by bus to be by his side. We were able to be refunded for our tours and one nights accomodation but we have lost our flights home. When we arrived at the hospital the doctors in intensive care told us how bad dads situation is. He requires major surgery but his heart is not strong enough to withstand the operation. If he doesn't have to operation he could die. He is unable to be discharged from hospital for atleast one week. We are stuck here with 4 children 3000km from home with limited funds & no idea how we are going to pay for our accommodation or our flights home when we are able to bring Dad home. This situation is so stressful and we are completely overwhelmed and scared.
