Meet Stryder! Stryder is 6 years old and lives in Brookhaven, MS with his Mom ( Marti), Dad (Tate), Sister (Ashlynn), and his best puppy Sly Cooper! Stryder is a boisterous little boy with an unforgetable prescence who loves wholeheartedly and brings life wherever he goes! In August 2017 He was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia. Aplastic Anemia (AA) is a rare disorder where all 3 cellular components of the blood ( red cells, white cells, and platelets) are deficient. Basically his cells are attacking his new cells. There are only 300-900 new cases of AA diagnosed each year in the U.S.
Treatment for Stryder's form of AA is immunosuppressive therapy (IST) and results can take months or even years. He will have many trips back and forth to the hospital for his blood to be checked, he will not get to go back to school for quite some time. He will have to be home bound because his immune system will be EXTREMELY weak and his body will be unable to fight off germs!
