Get Ryan Wrenchin' Again

Donation protected
On Thursday, June 14th, Ryan and his father Bob were caught in a horrific house explosion in Waldoboro, ME. Ryan and Bob fought to stay alive, and were lucky enough to find a basement window that had blown out. Ryan made it through the window first, and when his father got stuck in the window trying to climb out, Ryan ran back and pulled him to safety. Ryan's heroic actions saved his father's life.

The fire marshal has stressed how lucky they both are to be alive, as there was nothing salvageable from the inferno that engulfed the house. However, they were both severely burned all over their bodies. As of Sunday, June 17th, Bob's condition was downgraded to "serious" and he continues to make great progress. Ryan's condition is still considered "critical," and he is currently sedated in order to manage his pain. He has third degree burns on his legs, arms, and hands and will require multiple surgeries in order to repair the skin. He has slightly less severe burns on his face, but will have some scarring there when he heals.

The medical staff at Maine Medical Center in Portland have expressed that Ryan's road to recovery will be quite long. He will be in the hospital for a couple of months, then may require about a month of inpatient rehab to regain his functioning and strength. They have said that it may take up to a year for Ryan to fully recover, perhaps longer. While Ryan is a young and healthy guy, this will still be a long, painful, and expensive process.

His health insurance is limited, so any funds gathered here would be utilized for burn care, skin grafts, and other medical procedures Ryan may require, including rehabilitation therapy. No donation is too small; every penny counts and is greatly appreciated! If you know Ryan, you know that he is brave, strong, great with tools and machinery, and has a wicked sense of humor. He's quiet and friendly and cares so deeply for his family and friends. We would like to show Ryan how much we care for him in return, and we greatly appreciate everyone's support through this difficult time.
