Get Phil Nelson home to Perth

Donation protected
In July this year, Phil Nelson and his wife, Morag, made a mercy dash from Perth, Western Australia to be by their son, Karl’s side. Karl had been in an horrific car accident and was on life-support. Phil and Morag had been planning to go to Canada in August to spend time with both her sons, Karl & Jack and their partners. They were planning on staying until mid-November to welcome their first grandchild, who was due to arrive in October.
Before they rushed to be by their son’s side, they arranged travel insurance. Mistakenly taking out a ‘multi-trip’ insurance plan rather than insurance for the whole of their trip.
On Friday, 11 October, Phil fell down a set of stairs and suffered a massive head injury. He was stabilised in a local hospital and then airlifted to Calgary, where he was in intensive care for 10 days and is now on the trauma ward.
The insurance company were informed of the accident immediately and both Morag and the hospital have been given the daily updates on Phil’s condition. It was only when Morag contact them to make arrangement for a ‘medevac’ back to Australia, that the insurers told them that the cover she had taken out, despite being for ‘multi-trips’, would not cover this because they had not returned to Australia within 30 days.
Phil’s daily costs in hospital are in the vicinity of $25 000 and now, after almost 2 weeks, the insurers are saying they will not cover these or flights to get him home!
Please help Morag and her family get Phil back to Perth  where he can receive the treatment he needs.
