Get my Grandad his lifeline back

My 86 year old grandad (Robert) had his electric bike (which was chained up) stolen from outside of Marks & Spencer’s in Sunderland whilst shopping for food (he has a bag attached to the back of his bike to transport his shopping). The bike was a metallic red Freego Wren which cost him £1,800. My grandad was then left stranded in town with his shopping and walked to the police station to report this, thankfully the police contacted my uncle to collect him. 

Now this bike was my grandads lifeline and his only means of getting out and about. Since my nana sadly passed he has lived alone and unfortunately had to stop driving. He previously rode a normal bike however, after developing arthritis and other non-related operations to his leg he had to purchase an electric bike. He would go out on his bike every day without fail and even his elderly neighbours would comment that ‘he is always out on that bike’. I myself have had the pleasure (it didn’t feel like pleasure at the time) to ride from Sunderland to Chester Le street with him.

In these surreal times my grandad needs his lifeline to get him out of his lonely house and continue to give him a reason to get up on a morning. He has always been active and even when obstacles were thrown in his way he found a way around them in order to remain active (such as his beloved elelectric bike).

As a pensioner he simply cannot afford to replace this and as his family we are trying to do what we can to put a smile back on an old mans face. He is not aware that I am doing this for him but I will certainly make him aware as soon as we get to a point to give him a glimmer of hope. Any donation, no matter how small it may seem is a step closer to restoring his faith in humanity.
