Help My Mother With A Lift Chair

(Woo-Hoo!!! We made it!! We reached the goal and will be ordering her electric lift chair right away! My mother, Susan Niccolls, has been a giver her entire life. If you know my mother, then you will know that she doesn't have the word "No" in her vocabulary. She has always sacrificed her own needs to give to others. Many of you know her as:
- High School Youth Sponsor
- Girl's Bible Study Leader
- Friend from church
- Family and longtime friend
- Office manager for Dr. Konzelmann
- Rich's mom or Diane's mom
- Card shark in penny rummy
- Diehard Cardinals fan and all around sports enthusiast.
Over 30 years of Type II Diabetes has taken its toll on her health and physical condition. She has been using a walker for several years now, and has continued on a steady decline. Diabetes affects eyes, feet, legs, internal organs, circulation, bone, heart, etc.
My mother has a need. She has reached a point where her immediate health depends upon her ability for elevation in her legs for circulation and healing. She cannot use a traditional recliner (whether to lift the lever or push the foot rest closed). She needs an electric lift chair. According to the specialist we saw in August, the need for this chair is critical for her health.
Her doctor wrote a prescription for this chair, but Medicare makes it impossible, and it will be a minimum of 9 months before they can make a decision. Even if they do make a decision to pay, Medicare only covers the motor in the chair. She cannot wait 9 months to find out if Medicare will favor the decision. With recent changes to the world of Medicare, there are very slim odds of them covering anything.
Therefore, I am asking for help during the month of September. I am asking for anyone who has ever been touched by my mother to help. I am not able to provide this on my own, otherwise I would.
I started this "Go Fund Me" account to help cover the cost of the Lift Chair, which will be $1,100. Traci and I have investigated the chair. It is a great chair that will do everything she would need it to do.
Donations of $5, $10, $25 or more would be an incredible help. My goal is that by the end of September we can order the chair and have "Memorial Health Services" deliver and install the chair (sooner if we can). You can choose one of the donation buttons to give.
As soon as the funds are available, I will transfer the funds from Go Fund Me to purchase the chair. With the chair in stock, it shouldn't be more than 48 hours after I order the electric lift chair that Memorial Health Services will deliver it, and she can begin using and benefiting from it :-)
With the excess funds that come in above the cost of the chair, those will go directly to my mother to help purchase groceries or other staples that she might need. My mother's social security check is a bit on the short side, so I thought any extra could help stretch that check. She also has a few financial needs to catch up on that we'll use the excess funds for.

Please pray for her as well. She deals with some pretty severe pain on a regular, daily, hourly basis. Pray for her strength, comfort, healing, and peace.

WE MADE IT!!

I had this picture in my mind from It's A Wonderful Life earlier today. The end of the movie, George Bailey gets his life back. He runs home to his family, happy to be alive. Then, people start showing up at the door. They're emptying their pockets and sharing with the one who had shared with them his whole life.
That's kind of the scene I think of when I think of the people who have helped Diane's and my mother. I know that others are mailing checks, and we'll be able to help Sue way beyond the lift chair.
It's an incredible thing that you all have done. I've shared with her who has given... and Mom has told me a story for every one... Dave and Garrett would show up at the door to do some landscaping or just drop by; Wendy helped me selflessly figure out my taxes; following Jeff to Montana to work on a children's ranch and she's not sure how he ever got her on that horse; going to rock concerts to watch Jamie and the guys; having Matt and Erin come by the house to cook supper and watch the Cardinals games, having Susan keep Rich inline on the Bible Bowl trips and in high school, chatting on the phone with Barb, having Todd and Steve bunk up in the back bedroom and take the time to visit their aunt, enjoying coffee with Lauren and chatting about food, having Laurie and the girls over for Bible Study and posting family photos on the fridge, having Phil and Rich drop by the house unexpectedly from college, and life-long friends in Kathryn, Peggy, and Bev gather together for friendships that have spanned many a decade.
