Get Leeroi Smith to Surgery

Strongman/woman community, one of our own needs your help!

Leeroi Smith (England's Strongest Man u90, Britain's Strongest Man u90, World's Strongest Man u90 5th place two years running, former Dumbbell World Record Holder) is fighting the biggest battle of his life.

What started as a niggle in his shoulder last year has progressed to nerve pain and a loss of strength in his left arm. Following on from scans and seeing a Spinal Consultant Surgeon, he was dealt the worst hand possible. A disc prolapse at C7, causing nerve damage in his left arm, and putting him at risk of paralysis from the neck down if the disc damage progresses any further. His consultant even said he doesn't understand how Leeroi still has any feeling or mobility in his left arm, but he is lucky he does.

The only treatment available is disc fusion to stop any further damage, but the waiting list on the NHS is over 12 months. If he was to go privately, he could have the operation in as little as 6 weeks, but at a cost of around £15,000. He would also need considerable time off his manual job in groundworking to recover post surgery too.

For those who don't know Leeroi, he is married to the lovely Sammy who has supported him every step of his Strongman journey, and has a 2 year old son called Lincoln who is already trying to follow in his dads footsteps, regularly mimicking sandbag toss. Right now, Leeroi has to even be careful picking up his son to avoid any further risk to his spine, which is a heartbreaking situation for any family to be in.

All monies raised will be donated to the Smith family to help fund the operation (if the NHS are unable to expedite the surgery date), and also to help in the months afterwards with his recovery.
