Get Kai to NAPA Boston ( Intensive Therapy)

We need your help to get Kai to Boston to the amazing NAPA centre

Kai’s story ⬇️

Kai is a twin and is two years old. Before he was born we found out he had Hydrocephalus and we were given some awful prognosis for him. Kai & Finn were born in July 2019. Ever since, Kai has been surprising us and making the most amazing achievements. 

Kai had a VP shunt inserted at 10 days old to drain fluid in his brain. The shunt will remain for his whole life unless an issue arises. In January 2020 Kai developed infantile spasms (a type of epilepsy) which was just such an awful time for us all. Kai was put on high dose steroids along with epilepsy medication which hindered his development. Poor Kai didn’t even look like the same little boy he was so swollen! 

Kai bounced back to his brilliant little self but was always developmentally behind.

He sat up (albeit quite unsteadily) for the first time in April 2021 at 21 months. Recently he has started to tolerate standing up a little bit with support. 

We applied for a place in NAPA centre which does intensive therapy programs. These programs are specialised to each individual attending. The reviews for this program are out of this world. Children can see 6-12 months worth of progress within the 3 week intensive program (how could we pass up on such an opportunity) 

NAPA recommended 3 hours of therapy each day for 5 days a week over the three weeks. This costs $125 per hour! So for the therapy alone it would be $5,625.

We are hoping to travel to Boston as a family and we would love to raise enough money to cover the costs for this.

If, by some miracle raise more money than required we will donate it. We will do a break down of costs and keep everyone as up to date as we can. The first breakdown includes estimated prices. We are gathering some tips from other parents who have attended previously to work out the best mode of transport etc. We so appreciate any help you can give us.. because to be completely open and honest we couldn’t afford to go without your help!!
