This past year at my school, we performed the musical 'The Wiz!'. One of my students - named Destiny - discovered her passion for the arts and musical theatre, and blossomed over the course of the school's production. At the end of the year, I worked with her to put together an audition portfolio for Interlochen Arts Camp, a premier and well-renowed six-week summer arts institution in Northern Michigan. To the elation of her, her family, and me, she was accepted into their very prestigious musical theatre program for the 2017 summer season.
This summer, the IAC musical theatre program will be performing a production of 'Evita!'. Campers will undergo intense rehearsals for five weeks, while also receiving personalized training in voice, acting, and dance. They will also live in a cabin with other campers and counselors who share similar interests and passions. Being surrounded by an environment of immense creativity pushes each camper to improve in all aspects of their craft. Beyond that, they will also have the opportunity to participate in several fun summer camp staples such as a challenge course, archery, boating, swimming, and much more. During the sixth week, the campers will perform Evita! for the entire camp and all its guests. These performances are highly anticipated and always are of unparalleled quality.
This will be a once in a lifetime opportuntiy for Destiny. Her school does not have a program nearly as developed as this, nor are there any programs in her area in which she can participate. She is a wonderful young artist, and she absolutely deserves to experience a life-changing summer at Interlochen. Scholarships have already helped to cover about 86% of her tuition cost, but she needs your help to make this dream a reality. Here's what her family and I are asking for:
$1,273 will go toward her final tuition cost.
$227 will go toward the purchase of her camp uniforms and other purchases she can make on cabin field trips.
