We are dog loving family and have always looked after our pets like our very own children. Our wish as parents has always been that our kids grow with pets around them and be able to take care of them at all times. We had 3 dogs as of July 31st 2016. Willy our oldest was put to sleep on Aug 1st 2016, when he was about 11 years old due to cancer. Roxy chose to leave us Easter Sunday this year, at the age of 10. Bolt our Westie, helped us get through the loss of the two canines, that helped raise our son and daughter.
Little Bolt, our 3.5 year old Westie came to us on March 1st 2014 as a 12 week old puppy. The ever so sprightly pup, he just wins everybody’s hearts no matter where he goes. He converses with us like he also has a say in the matter. He loves chasing squirrels and thinks he can fly like the birds.
This little fellow has been battling a fever of 105 since 7/21/17. 10 days as of today. Different antibiotics have been tried and we are not seeing much relief. The aspirate test for cancer came negative for a thick lining found in the stomach. We are now evaluating our options for treatment, as pet owners, we cannot get ourselves to put a 3.5 year old dog to sleep.
Putting our pride aside, we are asking for help via gofundme to help us do the following for Bolt –
- Lung Wash ( to pin point the bacteria causing the infection), so appropriate antibiotic can be given
- Biopsy of the thick lining found in the stomach
- And any other treatments that may be required
If the result of the biopsy comes back as cancer, we know the route. But we are unable to believe that a young pup is fighting cancer and want to pursue further investigations.
The testing will start 8/1 for Lung Wash and Biopsy of lung and abdomen
We are reaching out to all our friends and dog lovers to help raise money to help us get the right treatment for Bolt.
The estimated cost for the Lung Wash, Biopsy and treatment, continued hostpital stay, if it is confirmed as Aspiration Pneumonia is around $7000. We have spent about $6000 as of today from 7/21.
