Get behind Juliet’s fight against breast cancer

This fundraiser is on behalf of our gorgeous friend Juliet Wilson, whose fight with cancer follows a decade of relentless health issues. She was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease in April 2020 and put on a treatment protocol. By December, she was finally starting to feel better when life threw one more cruel challenge her way, and she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer on NYE.
Juliet has a long and challenging year ahead
She has an invasive, fast-growing, triple-negative tumour that has spread to her left axilla lymph nodes. Her prognosis is good, but to ensure she fully gets rid of the cancer, she has to undergo six months of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and reconstruction, and five weeks of radiation therapy.
Juliet’s family and partner all live in North America, so she is dealing with all of this without having them around for support. Despite this, throughout her treatment so far, Juliet has been fighting valiantly and remained incredibly positive.
Why Juliet needs your support
After 12 months of medical expenses, despite having private health insurance, the out-of-pocket costs of specialists and scans have already caused stress. Her credit card is maxed out, and she is facing significantly more expenses. Her surgery costs alone will be up to $14,000. She will also need six weeks off work to recover from the surgery in late July and doesn’t have enough paid leave to cover this. And there are significant ongoing costs for Juliet to regain her health.
Juliet is under overwhelming financial pressure at a time when she needs to continue to remain positively focused on her recovery.

Juliet is a single mum with a big heart, who cares deeply about those around her and goes out of her way to help others whenever she can. Juliet works full-time overseeing law reform projects that give better access to justice for vulnerable community members and is also writing a book, intending to help others with Lyme disease be diagnosed and treated properly.
