This week, the house that Connor and Cheryl Maclean live in on Sydney's northern beaches was flooded while Connor was hospitalised for a broken arm and Cheryl was interstate on business. They lost almost everything they own. Cheryl spent the first night in her car before she could arrange emergency short term accommodation while Connor remains in hospital.
21 year old Connor and his mother Cheryl are well known to the staff and families of The Children's Hospital at Westmead and Royal North Shore Hospital. During his life, Connor has had more than 50 operations, hundreds of medical procedures and relies on a range of medication to maintain his quality of life. At birth Cheryl was told Connor would be lucky to live to four years old, and yet here we are today. They are fighters.
Connor and Cheryl have now lost virtually everything. This includes not only household items like clothes, kitchen items, gaming consoles and furniture but also everything in the treatment room they use to keep Connor alive.
Those that know Connor and Cheryl are aware they have been up against it since the day he was born and have battled through countless challenges. They have managed this while also providing significant support to fundraising for The Children's Hospital at Westmead over the years. It was during this amazing 60 Minutes story on Connor as a child that the nation began to fall in love with this family.
We as their community cannot let them fight this latest fight alone. Please give what you can and share this with anyone you know who would be open to donating even a few dollars to this battling family.
